Virtual Industrial Automation Day Livestream a great success

On Thursday, April 30, 2020, Bakersfield College's Industrial Automation and Career and Technical Education departments hosted a Virtual Industrial Automation Day live stream. They featured the BC Industrial Automation program for prospective students interested in the technology management field on BCINDA Youtube channel. Participants logged in to the live stream to learn about and discuss the Industrial Automation field, career opportunities available, the baccalaureate program, and coursework. Bakersfield College experts facilitating, presenting and chatting with students included: Jason Dixon, Department Chair, Cynthia Quintanilla, Counselor, Lysander Ramos, Financial Aid Administrator, Carlos Medina and Freddie Rodriguez, Job Development Specialists and Career Experts, and Mark Jensen, CTE Educational Advisor.

Local and national industries participated to answer questions and talk about the industry with students. Wonderful Citrus, Tasteful Selections, and StanTech discussed and highlighted the growing demand of the Industrial Automation program for Kern County's economic growth and future development for their companies and the industry. Richard Chapman, President and CEO of Kern Economic Development Corporation, emphasized the key importance of the Industrial Automation program for the future workforce in companies and industries. Edwin Marroquin, Phillips 66 Training Technician and BC Alumni, highlighted his student success story with the Bakersfield College Industrial Automation Program and encouraged students to join the Industrial Automation program.
