Kern Transit will once again be offering free rides for all currently enrolled Bakersfield College students on all Kern Transit 100-routes (ie: Rte 110, 120, etc.) with a valid student ID. Free rides will be available during the fall semester, beginning August 21, 2021 and will continue through the end of finals week on December 11, 2021. Students who choose to ride with Kern Transit will not have to drive in traffic or find parking on campus, and they can focus on their studies as they commute to and from school. By using public transit, students will also be limiting emissions, helping to improve the air quality throughout the Central Valley. Additionally, students may ride free on all 100-numbered routes, not just on routes to and from the school, so they can save money commuting all around Kern County, any day of the week.

“Having partnerships with organizations that value education in our community is crucial to our student's success,” said Dr. Nicky Damania, Dean of Students at Bakersfield College. “We are so grateful for this collaboration and hope all students will take advantage of this resource to help them in achieving their academic degrees. Both Bakersfield College and Kern Transit are committed to breaking down barriers to ensure our students are successful.”

Bob Neath from Kern Transit says they are proud to support Renegades. He said, “Both BC and Kern Transit are committed to breaking down barriers, giving every student the option to learn in-person and on-campus regardless of transportation difficulties.”
