Bakersfield College To Hold In-Person New Student Convocation

Bakersfield College is excited to usher in the new academic year with our New Student Convocation, returning in person for the first time in two years! All new students and their parents are invited to attend the 2022 New Student Convocation at Bakersfield College's Outdoor Theater on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 5:30 PM - 8 PM

Convocation, meaning a “calling together,” welcomes students to the Renegade community while providing critical information about navigating college life, the importance of getting involved on campus, making the most of your time here, and strategies for being successful.

At this annual event, students new to Bakersfield College will be welcomed by representatives from Bakersfield College, including the Dean of Students, the Student Government Association President, the Academic Senate President, and Bakersfield College President Dr. Zav Dadabhoy. “The New Student Convocation is a traditional event that begins a young student's life to an educational journey,” said Dr. Nicky Damania, Dean of Students. “Being connected to the Home of the Renegades will increase a student's pride in the institution and help them be integrated to the customs and traditions of Bakersfield College. To be successful, incoming students need to be connected and know their institutional values.”

Convocation activities also include a Family Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by our incredible first-year student success program, Bridge to BC, raffle prizes, a dinner provided for all attendees, a family workshop, and all for free!
