Staff Spotlight: Dominica Rivera-Dominguez

Bakersfield College Educational Advisor Dominica Rivera-Dominguez has been helping transform lives through Credit for Prior Learning. “Credit for Prior Learning can help students save time and money towards their educational goals. Students can benefit from their previous experiences when attending a California Community College.”

Bakersfield College provides credit to students who have gained skills and knowledge outside of the classroom. Dominica has supported the awarding of over 275 units since spring 2023 within the public safety programs and has already broken ground in the business department. With her support, five Paramedic certificates and two Administration of Justice Degrees have been posted. In addition, one Correctional Administration, two Administration of Justice Degrees, and one Administrative Office Assistance Degree are pending, and Wildland Firefighting Job Skills Certificates are in progress.
